Due to the bomb incident in August, we had to cancel out family trip to Bangkok, me and my friends decide to visit Bangkok in October , we booked for the U Sathorn Bangkok for our stay, since they have a really interesting concept – A resort style hotel in the heart of Bangkok! The 2nd reason? It is just a very new hotel, opened in Dec 2014, no doubt I am trying this place out.
About 5 minutes away from lumpini station, please make sure you will take a taxi or their shuttle especially in the dark, it is indeed located in the city area, but the way to get there is relatively quiet, given taxi in Bangkok is one of the cheapest in the world, just grab yourself a taxi! (Or Uber is even better, you know some of the taxi drivers doesn’t follow the Taxi Meters!)
The reception desk is an outdoor (with covered). While waiting for check in they will serve you with some tea, and they will let you pick your hand soap (comes with a selections of 4 flav). The pool is located right next to the check in lobby, it isn’t very luxurious, but definitely give you a really relaxing and comfy environment.
Our room was located in the 3rd Floor, pretty much right next to the lift lobby, every of the room has a balcony! (Great for my cigar break). I would not say the room is huge, but just sufficient for 2 guests!
The twin bed is very closed to each other, like a 4-6 inches gap? It is good for pillow chat, and the bed was pretty comfortable.
The bathroom was located on the right hand side of the room, the toilet was separated with the shower and basin. How I wish there is a bath tub! I would say the design isn’t the best, as there is no “door “ to separate the whole bathroom area. They supply sufficient toilet amenities, slippers, and a pretty decent bathrobe!
Otherwise I would say everything is good (next time need to get a bigger room!), the fridge is cold enough, we were offered to pick our own drinks (1 each) as a welcome drink.
Yet the room is not big, but the service was superb, immediate response with a can do attitude, I worked in the service industry so I get really fuzzy when things are not right, lol!
Breakfast is included in out package, served in buffet style on top of a la carte menu! The French toast on the a la carte menu is really good!
The selection of beverage is good too, a good selection of juice, they have breakfast in chinese and western style plus some thai options , so you can get pretty much what you want! We spent a day at the balcony for breakfast instead of indoor, it will be a pretty good experience if it is sunny!
A list of what we ate during our stay!
If you prefer to spend most of your time in this resort, and you are a foodie, then don’t miss out the “J’AIME by Jean-Michel Lorain” a restaurant that owns by the Michelin star chef – Jean-Michel Lorain, I have got something else planned so I couldn’t make it this time, my local friends and family recommended this place to me!
And the pool , spa and gym are pretty neat too, I just wish I have got a few days more for me to stay in this place, I was too lazy so I missed the chance of swimming in the pool!
Overall I enjoyed my stay here! And would love to drag my family to here again , possibly will get a bigger room next time, staying in here giving me a very relaxing environment, although I still go shop a lot during the day but I felt like I am in a resort just chilling and relaxing in the morning and when I am back (having a whisky & cigar at the balcony). And considering the price it is super value for money!)
Lastly, I would like to give a compliment to 2 of the staffs that provided excellent service, Jack from the front desk has been very helpful, but my Favourite staff of this place is Surat, he is from the concierge desk, we saw him a few nights when we arrive the hotel with a taxi, he proactively use his torch to check if we have got anything missing in the taxi and making sure our taxi ride and everything are good, he is super attentive, polite and gentle. Although most of the staffs here made us feel welcome, but these 2 staff provided extraordinary service to us during our stay.
You may make a reservation via the link below, although I didn’t make this reservation via hotels.com, but I usually use that , my preferred vendor at the moment.
I usually make reservations via hotels.com (especially they do 10 get 1 free), go compare the price before you make a reservation to get the best deal!
Like I said use their shuttle bus or Uber , since taxi doesn’t follow the taxi meters all the time! Use my Ubercode : uberfoodncrits when you first signup to Uber to get a free ride up to $100 HKD worth!
